Google will stop allowing its own ads to appear in YouTube ads.
The company said it will stop running advertisements on its own video platform in order to focus on building a unified ad-sales platform.
“We are focused on building this new platform that will deliver great ads for all our users,” said Google CEO Sundar Pichai, in a blog post.
“We believe that it will be a better experience for everyone.”
The announcement comes just two days after a group of online publishers and activists sued Google for its dominance of the video-sharing business, and months after it said it would allow its own videos to be used in YouTube.
